In the notable development in the Loni video incident, the Senior Superintendent of Police Amit Pathak informed that the Ghaziabad Police has decided to challenge the Karnataka’s High Court interim order, in the Supreme Court, which granted protection to Twitter India MD Manish Maheshwari.

Though Maheshwari was served notice twice to join the investigation with the Police, Karnataka High Court’s order of protection left the Ghaziabad Police with no option except to approach the Apex Court and challenge the same.

The Karnataka High Court had earlier, in its order, directed the Police to not take any coercive measures against Maheshwari and to continue the investigation in a virtual mode with him, if needed.

The direction came after the Ghaziabad Police issued notice to Maheshwari along with 9 other entities under Section 41A CrPC after the video of the Loni incident was circulated wherein a man was thrashed and his beard chopped off in Loni.

The notices were issued after Twitter along with along entities, without cross-checking facts disrupted the peace thereby giving a communal angle to the incident.
