WhatsApp privacy policy: Supreme Court issues notice, asks for WhatsApp’s stand

The Supreme Court asked WhatsApp to give an undertaking on oath regarding the private data privacy of users and state that it would not be shared with any third person.

Chief Justice of India SA Bobde while issuing notices to Facebook and WhatsApp stated “The privacy of people is more important than your money.”

The three-judge bench further asked for the implementation of the privacy policy which is made available to the European users. 

SA Bobde observed that people were having grave concerns regarding the policy and thereby directed the company to explain its clear stance by filing a counter Affidavit within 4 weeks. 

The Chief Justice of India further remarked, “People have grave concerns about their privacy. You may be a 2 trillion 3 trillion company. But the privacy of people is more important than your money.”
