The US Supreme Court will hear a case challenging a Texas law that prohibits most Abortions after six weeks of Pregnancy, according to the Court’s announcement on Friday.

The Court, however, declined to accept the Biden Administration‘s request to stay the law’s enforcement by overturning a lower court’s decision.

Texas Officials responded by arguing that the Justices should turn down the request, citing the fact that the Appeals Court is set to hear arguments in the matter soon. (US Appeals Court: Texas Abortion Ban will be in Effect)

Abortion rights groups and providers had urged the Supreme Court to hear their case against S.B. 8 before the 5th Circuit of Appeals delivered final findings, stressing the “urgency of the injury” it had caused.

The Supreme Court approved the Advocates’ request in a Friday afternoon order, setting oral arguments in the case known as Whole Woman’s Health v. Jackson for Nov. 1.

The said date is one month before the Supreme Court hears arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, a case that directly challenges the 1973 Roe v. Wade abortion-rights ruling.
