The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) brought Danish Chikna, a close member of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim to Mumbai from Rajasthan after his name surfaced in a drug case in the city.

The Officials stated,“Danish used to operate a drugs factory linked to Dawood in Mumbai’s Dongri. He has been on the run ever since the NCB busted the drugs racket led by Chinku Pathan in the city”.

Danish Merchant is the son of Yusuf Merchant alias Yusuf Chikna, a Dongri-based gangster linked to the Dawood Ibrahim gang in the 1980s and 1990s. He was wanted in two cases, one of which involved the operation of a drug factory in Mumbai.

Local police in Kota, Rajasthan, earlier this week arrested Danish. The NCB then obtained a court-ordered transit remand and transported him to Mumbai.

The Agency’s zonal director Sameer Wankhede revealed that following a 1,200-kilometer chase, Danish Merchant was arrested at a road checkpoint set up by Kota Police under the direction of the NCB wherein he was in possession of 200 grams of hashish.

The Kota police arrested and remanded him in the custody under the related provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

A team from the NCB also arrested Shadab Batata, the son of Mumbai’s biggest drug dealer, and seized drugs worth Rs 2 crore a few days ago.

Shadab has a long history in the drug industry, and he used to supply drugs to Bollywood celebrities in Mumbai.
