A five-member meet, in regards to the appointment of new judges to Supreme Court of India was organised by Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde, who is about to retire this month.

The five-member collegium comprises of Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, newly designated Chief Justice of India N V Ramana, Justice Rohinton Nariman, Justice A M Khanwilkar and Justice U U Lalit.

Despite all of his efforts the result of the meat was inconclusive.

Chief Justice of India is about to end his 14 months long tenure and the president has already been appointed by the President of India who is Chief Justice NV Ramana.

If the meeting would have been conclusive and the panelist would have been able to reach at a conclusive solution in regards to selecting a person who would be selected as a judge to Supreme Court then this would have been the first recommendation which Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde would have made to the government of India.

Sources stated, “Despite reservations by at least to office colleagues, Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde called the meeting of the Supreme Court collegium on Thursday to discuss appointment to the top Court. the meeting however ended in a deadlock with no consensus on the further course of action”.

On the similar day a proceeding was taking place in the court and the newly appointed Chief Justice NV Ramana did not attend it.

Although he did not attend that but still NV Ramana attended the Colosseum which was called by chief justice Sharad Arvind Bobde.

As per the analysis the sources stated, “If a consensus had emerged on a name in the five-member panel it would have been the first recommendation made to the government in Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde’s 14 month long tenure”.

The major reason why the appointment of the judges is of utmost importance to the Supreme Court of India is that along with Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind board hue numerous other Supreme Court Judges retiring this year.

CJI Sharad Arvind Bobde would retire on 23rd of April.

Justice Ashok Bhushan, Justice Navin Sinha and 3 more judges will retire this year.

Before the retirement of Supreme Court chief justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, the Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi retired last year.

Therefore, in total there will be retirement of 6 judges from the Supreme Court of India in the year 2021 and hence the appointment of new judges to the Supreme Court is of utmost importance and the speedy appointment to the apex court should be done.
