The House Capitol Attack Committee which has been investigating the Jan 6 riot on the US Capitol has released a Contempt Report on Steve Bannon, an ally of Former US President Donald Trump.

A business meeting was held on Tuesday, 19th October, in which the report was on the subject.

The Criminal Contempt report laid correspondence between the committee and Steve which revealed details about what happened the day of his deposition and making his subpoena publicly available for the first time.

“Mr Bannon has relied on no legal authority to support his refusal to comply in any fashion with the subpoena,” the report stated.

“The Select Committee has not been provided with any formal invocation of executive privilege by the President, the former President or any other employee of the executive branch,” the report mentoned.

The report also added that “At no point during the time period under investigation by the Select Committee was Mr Bannon a government employee, much less a key White House adviser in the Office of the President.”

The whole chamber will vote on the resolution on 21st October to hold Bannon in contempt.

If convicted, Steve Bannon will face 12 months in prison and likely a fine.
