Joe Biden: Those refuse to testify in Capitol Violence to be Prosecuted

The President of the United Sates, Joe Biden stated that those who refuse to testify before probe panel should be prosecuted by the U.S Justice Department before a Congressional select committee probing the 6 January assaults at the Capitol.

The committee is to vote on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, on adopting of Congress report against Steve Bannon, adviser to Former President Donald Trump who has not compiled with committee’s subpoena.

In response to the President’s remarks the Justice Department’s spokesperson said that the department “Will make its own independent decisions in all prosecutions based solely on the facts and the law”.

Earlier, on 6 Jan hundreds of Trump supporters stormed the U.S Capitol building in which four people died and more than 100 police officers were injured. Later that day four police officers had died of suicide.
