100 year old Mosque toppled in Uttar Pradesh Barabanki in defiance of HC Order

Masjid Gareeb Nawaz Al Maroof, a mosque has reportedly been demolished by the local administration in the State of UP defining the High Court order.

While according to the documents held by the committee, the mosque was at least 6 decades old, since the British rule and such demolition is one of the most inflammatory actions taken against a Muslim place of worship after Babri Mosque in 1992.

After such demolition, security services in the area have been deployed to prevent anyone coming within a mile of the mosque situated earlier.

Members of mosque committee have alleged that despite being ordered to delay all demolitions, the local administration went ahead with the demolition of the mosque structures.

The UP board chairman said that the Waqf board will approach the Allahabad High Court demanding high level judicial enquiry and restoration of the mosque and contempt proceedings against the officials.

After the Waqf board’s demand, acting general secretary of the All India Muslim Personal Board, Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rehmani described the demolition of mosque under heavy security as “criminal act”.
