Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is Indian Cricketer. Sachin is named as the greatest batsmen in the history of world cricket. Tendulkar born to a middle-class family, the youngest of four children. His father was a writer and a professor, while his mother worked for a life insurance company.

Named after his family’s favorite music director, Sachin Dev Burman, Tendulkar wasn’t a particularly gifted student, but he’d always shown himself to be a standout athlete. He was 11 years old when he was given his first cricket bat, and his talent in the sport was immediately apparent.

At the age of 14, he scored 326 out of a world-record stand of 664 in a school match. As his accomplishments grew, he became a sort of cult figure among Bombay schoolboys. After high school, Tendulkar enrolled at Kirti College, where his father also taught. Wasting little time living up to the lofty expectations, the 15-year-old Tendulkar scored a century in his domestic first-class debut for Bombay in December 1988, making him the youngest player to do so.

Eleven months later, he made his international debut for India against Pakistan, where he famously declined medical assistance despite getting hit in the face by Waqar Younis. In August 1990, the 17-year-old delivered a match-saving 119 not out against England to become the second-youngest player to record a century in Test play. Tendulkar in 1992 became the first international player to sign with England’s storied Yorkshire club.

After finishing the 1996 World Cup as the event’s leading scorer, Tendulkar was named captain of the Indian national team. In 2001, Tendulkar became the first player to score 10,000 runs in One Day International (ODI) competition, and the following year he surpassed the great Don Bradman on the all-time list with his 30th Test century. He was again the leading scorer during World Cup play in 2003, earning Man of the Series honors.

On the heels of becoming the first player to post a double century in ODI play, he was named the 2010 International Cricket Council Cricketer of the Year. His career nearing the finish line, Tendulkar was sworn in as a Rajya Sabha member at the Parliament House in New Delhi in June 2012. Tendulkar is also the youngest person and the first sportsman to be conferred the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor.

Cases/Controversies

Mike Denness bans Sachin Tendulkar for ball-tampering:  Sachin Tendulkar was accused by match-referee Mike Denness of ball tampering during an India-South Africa Test at Port Elizabeth which led to banning him from one match this caused an uproar in the Indian parliament thereby lifting the ban .

The Flag Controversies: It was a controversy in which his name was unnecessarily dragged. Prior to the start of the 2007 World Cup, the Indian team was in Jamaica and the Indian High Commission invited them for a function. At that get-together, a cake bearing the colors of the national flag was cut by Tendulkar. Such a depiction isn’t allowed by Indian law and Tendulkar found himself in a muddle.

A case was filed against him in a Court in Indore. Delhi Police too received a complaint for his act. However, it was surprising considering the fact that the function itself was organized by representatives of the Indian government, who should have known the law. Tendulkar found support from various Members of Parliament and the Indian cricket board as they stated that the incident should not be blown out of proportion.

Moving into a new house without permit: Tendulkar’s palatial home in Mumbai became the talk of the town. Right from its construction to its inauguration was covered by the media. However, after Tendulkar performed the house warming ceremonies, it was revealed that he didn’t have the necessary permits to enter his new home. Tendulkar was imposed a fine of Rs 4.75 lakh by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for moving in to his new house in Bandra without the Occupancy Certificate.
