BACKGROUND: A energetic and dedicated athlete, Rao Inderjit Singh was a member of the Indian shooting team from 1990 to 2003. Rao for three years in a row became the National Champion in Shoot. He won three gold medals within the SAF Games. When not involved in politics, Rao likes to explore the environment.

Rao Inderjit Singh was elected a member of the Haryana legislature in 1977, 1982, 1991 and 2004.
In 1986 he became Minister of State, freelance Charge, Food and Civil offers, Haryana.
Singh was the Cabinet Minister of Haryana and commanded the setting of & Forestry and Medical and Technical Education.
He was not nominated for Lok Sabha in 1998, 2004, 2009 and 2014.

CONTROVERSY/CASES:
Rao Inderjit Singh has been charged with felony criminal mischief for allegedly carrying out a CBI investigation into a Kandivili land dispute in Mumbai.
Singh, the former Minister of State for Defense in Manmohan Singh’s previous government, said the case against him was baseless.”It is unfortunate that the campaign of illegal information is being carried out by our former colleagues in Congress in connection with the Candidate case in Mumbai … a former Congressman who also joined the BJP before the Lok Sabha election, in a statement here.
He said the CBI had registered its first investigation into the case in January 2012 but “found that no malafide had been found in the case for anyone”.
The Department of Defense had twice told Parliament that the case was closed.
He provided the Minister of Defense’s response to a question written in Lok Sabha on September 9, 2012, stating, “The CBI closed the Kandivili land case in connection with the alleged purchase of land by M / S Neo Pharma Limited on March 8, 2013.”
In another response to a question in Lok Sabha, the Department of Defense said on December 9,2013 that “the CBI began a preliminary investigation into the case on January 12,2012. Since then the CBI has reported that they have closed the case.”
He was responding to an attack by Congress which said BJP leader Kirit Somaiya had sought action against Singh over allegations of corruption during his tenure in the UPA government.
Congress MP Rajiv Satav had posted a communication link with Somaiya in 2011 on his Twitter account yesterday and party spokesman Shashi Tharoor questioned how it is possible for a “corrupt person to be in the UPA and not corrupt in the BJP”.
Inderjit Singh told PTI that Somaiya had realized there was no right to the case against him and had stopped talking about it and others were unnecessarily worried about it.
