In the year 2008, being a congress member, he became the Communication and Information Technology Minister of State. Further, he was again elected as Lok Sabha member for three times in a row. Although Scindia played an important role in winning elections in Madhya Pradesh, he was offered the post of Deputy CM which he eventually turned down. Adding few more reasons to this, in 2020 he left Congress and joined BJP.
