A petition seeking narco-analysis test on accused Saroj Sethi of Pari death case has been filed in a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) court in Nayagarh district.

The five-year-old girl victim, Pari, went missing from her house in Jadupur in Nayagarh district on 14 June 2020. Her body was recovered from a spot 50 meters away on June 23, 2020.

A massive outrage was sparked in the state after Pari’s parents attempted self-immolation in front of the Orissa Legislative Assembly on November 23, 2020. This massive outrage forced the government to order a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe.

The SIT led by Arun Bothra had conducted polygraph tests on accused Saroj Sethy, his mother, and his sister. Then they arrested Saroj. Bothra claimed that the accused has committed the crime when he was alone at home and termed him as a necrophile.

The SIT probing into the Pari murder case had sought permission from POCSO court for a narcotic analysis test on the accused.

The SIT also recreated the crime scene with the accused and also found the missing clothes of the deceased after drying up the pond where her skeletal remains were found.
