Nearly two weeks ago a Hathras Dalit girl was gangraped and tortured by four men dies today in Delhi Hospital.
Girl was admitted to Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College and Hospital at the Aligarh Muslim University but was moved to the Safdarjung Hospital’s ICU.
The teenager suffered grievous injuries including multiple fractures on the spine. Her tongue was slashed.
Victim in her statement to the police said that the four men raped her on September 14 when she had gone to collect firewood.
Last week, based on a complaint by the victim’s brother, the police had booked a man identified as Sandeep for attempted murder, under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The family alleged Sandeep had tried to kill the victim over some old enmity.
Currently all four accused arrested and are in jail.
