The Delhi High Court has come down hard on Delhi police for conducting a very slow-paced investigation into a selective sex birth racket.

The Court said, “These feudal practices cannot be permitted at any cost.” Additional Sessions Judge Samar Vishal, granted anticipatory bail to the three accused persons in the case.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare filed a complaint to the Delhi Police, claiming that the accused persons were providing services to couples who wanted a male child through IVF.

The prosecution claims that in the light of providing counselling to the couples, the accused were actually running a racket of providing sex selection, and is banned and punishable under the provisions of Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994.

It was stated by the Court that the FIR is dated October 2019 and no substantial progress can be seen in the investigation.

Furthermore, the Court has Ordered DCP Crime Branch to preside the investigation.

The Court has further stated if no results are shown, then the matter will reach to Delhi Police Commissioner.
