MK Bhardwaj, president of the Jammu Bar Association, has written to the Secretary in the Department of Law and Parliamentary Affairs, requesting that Suraj Singh be appointed as a Government Advocate.

Suraj Singh, a Visually Impaired Advocate from Jammu and Kashmir, has been sitting on a Dharna (sit-in protest) against the Government’s Alleged failure to Implement Disability Laws in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Suraj has started a Protest against the Government of Jammu and Kashmir at the Jammu Wing of the High Court in order to get issues resolved and rights recognised under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act of 2016.

Suraj has been working as an Advocate in the Jammu Wing of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh since 2011, fighting for his Rights, which he claims the Supreme Court Upheld in its decision in Union of India & Anr Vs. National Federation of Blinds & Ors.
