The Special Cell of the Delhi Police served notice to Twitter India offices in Delhi and Gurugram in connection with a probe that alleged Congress “Toolkit” against the Modi Government.

The notice was issued to Twitter to clarify as to why it had labelled the tweet by BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra on the alleged toolkit as “Manipulated media”.

Delhi Police PRO Chinmoy Biswal said that, “It appears that Twitter has some information which is not known to us and on the basis of which they have classified it (Patra’s tweet) as such. This information is relevant to the inquiry. The Special Cell which is conducting the inquiry, wants to find out the truth. Twitter, which has claimed to know the underlying truth, should clarify.”

The BJP had accused the Congress of creating a toolkit to tarnish the images of the country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the handling of the pandemic. However, Congress denied the allegations saying that the BJP was defaming them by propagating a fake toolkit.

The police in the notice have also requested Twitter India MD to be present in the DCP Office for investigation with all the pertinent documents.

Many BJP leaders including Patra have posted various tweets attacking the Congress over the alleged toolkit.
