Opposition files plea in SC for reinstatement of the House, naming Sher Bahadur Deuba as their PM: Nepal

In accordance with the Article 76(5) of the constitution of Nepal, the Nepal’s opposition alliance has filed a writ petition in SC demanding restoration of the House of the Representatives thereby declaring Sher Bahadur Deuba as their Prime Minister.

The petition comes after President Bidya D Bhandari dissolved the 275 member House of Representatives on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The petitioners demanded to scrap the announcement of mid-term polls in November and stop polls related programme amid COVID-19 pandemic.

The petition is duly signed by more than 146 members of the House dissolved noting the dissolution to be unconstitutional.
