Trinamool Congress (TMC) floor leader Derek O’Brien was suspended from the Upper House of Parliament on December 21 for the outstanding part of the Winter session.

The Notification came in light after the TMC Leader Derek O’Brien threw a Rajya Sabha Rule Book at the Chair.

Further Sasmit Patra, in the Chair, highlighted that the TMC MP had raised a point of Order and the Deputy Chairman duly responded to it.

Sasmit Patra stated after a while O’Brien flung the rule book sternly in the direction of the Chair.

Sasmit Patra noted, “The rule book would have hit the chair, or secretary general or officials sitting at the table.”

Furthermore, Derek O’Brien was suspended after the House passed a Notification in a motion moved by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs V Muraleedharan.

Derek O’Brien further posted on social media Twitter account “The last time I got suspended from Rajya Sabha was when the government was bulldozing farm laws. We all know what happened after that. Today, suspended while protesting against BJP making a mockery of Parliament and bulldozing election laws bill. Hope this Bill too will be repealed soon.”

The Winter Session is scheduled to end on December 23.
