A Bench led by Chief Justice N V Ramana directed Senior Lawyer Kapil Sibal, who was representing the Imprisoned Leader who sought an urgent hearing on his Plea, to provide Documents.

The Court Affirmed to hear Maharashtra Minister and Nationalist Congress Party Leader Nawab Malik’s request for immediate Release from Prison in a Money Laundering Case.

“Please give the papers,” said the Bench, which also comprised Justices Krishna Murari and Hima Kohli.

The Prevention of Money Laundering Act was enacted in 2005, and the Minister has been Charged under the Statute for Alleged Offences committed Prior to 2000, according to Sibal.

Malik was Apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a property deal Allegedly linked to Gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s aides. The Minister had filed a Habeas Corpus Petition in the High Court shortly after his Arrest, challenging his Arrest and the remand Orders.
