Supreme Court brings scheme of FASTER for speedier execution of orders

The Supreme Court while hearing a Suo moto Writ Petition on “Delay In the release of Convicts after Grant of Bail” concluded that there is a need for speedier delivery mode for execution of orders, as the slow process of postal delivery services results in the delay of such orders.

The Constitutional bench comprising of Chief Justice NV Ramana, Justice Nageswara Rao and Justice AS Bopanna said, “In this age of Information and communication Technology, we are still looking at the skies for pigeons to communicate orders.”

The Solicitor General of India, Mr Tushar Mehta recommended that the orders which are uploaded on the Court’s website can be used as “Official Orders” for effective quick release.

A brief submission was also submitted which highlighted the need for “authentic orders” by Jail authorities.

The Apex Court has brought a foundation on “FASTER: Fast and Secure Transmission of Electronic Record” for quick transmission of bail orders.

The bench has focused on revolutionizing the transmission of Courts orders through several channels so that they get implemented in less time, which would benefit several people enlarged on bail.
