The Delhi High Court to hear a plea seeking quashing of the order passed by Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal staying CM Arvind Kejriwal’s “Ghar Ghar Ration Yojana Scheme” on June 18.
The plea stated that, “The Lieutenant Governor has rejected the file for implementation of the scheme citing two reasons- Centre is yet to approve the scheme, and an ongoing court case. The scheme was stopped by the Centre on the basis that its approval was not sought before implementation.”
Further, the plea stated that the Delhi Government has consistently given rations to the people having ration cards but not for those residing on footpath and that such people are not in a position to get ration or have alternative source of fuel or utensils for cooking the food.
The scheme stayed by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi “Without any reasonable basis is contrary to the spirit of the constitution under Article 46.” the plea stated.
The plea prayed for directions on the Respondent Authorities to provide food, shelter, medical treatment to affected and destitute homeless people living on footpaths in order to rehabilitate them and allow the e-district portal for filing application of ration card disposing the same within a month.
