A special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Court in Mumbai on June 11th asked Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to file a reply by June 16th on the bail application filed by Siddarth Pithani, late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s flatmate.

On May 26, Pithani was arrested by the NCB Mumbai Unit from Hyderabad, who brought him to Mumbai on a transit warrant procured from the local Court there. Following which he was booked under several sections of the NDPS Act, 1985.

After his arrest a Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in Mumbai remanded Pithani to the Narcotics Control Bureau custody till June 1.

On June 4, Siddharth Pithani was sent to14-day judicial custody in connection with the drug case linked to Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

Siddharth Pithani was arrested for procuring and consuming contraband in the drug probe which had emerged when the Enforcement Directorate while investigating the death of the famous Bollywood actor, had shared alleged chats about substance use with the NCB.

Pithani has sought bail on the basis that earlier accused who were arrested on the same charges in the case were given bail by the Court.

It was also argued by the late actor’s flatmate that as per the Apex Court’s order last year, the statements by witnesses against him in the present case are unreliable and possess no evidentiary value.

Since Pithani is scheduled to get married later this month, the plea contended that he should be considered for bail as a result.
