A District Court of Maharashtra acquitted four-people who were charged under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) for committing armed Dacoity in order to get evidence.

The Single Bench of Judge VY Jadhav on Saturday observed that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges which were framed against the four-person and then the Bench decided to acquit the four-person.

The prosecution had contended that the accused people were armed with firearms and other weapons and had entered into the office of an investment firm at Anjur Phata in Bhiwandi in the Thane district on February 18, 2010.

They followed up beating the staff and looted Rs 15, 59,500 cash, six mobile phones and a gold chain.

The Defense Counsel highlighted to the Court that the five accused were charged under several Sections of the Indian Penal Code and MCOCA which were wrongly caught up in the case and the investigation done by the police was riddled with lapses.

The Court acquitted four-people because one of them had a different set of charges and his case will be heard later.
