Recently, the Karnataka High Court dismissed the Bail plea of a Police Constable in a bribery case. He was caught red-handed accepting Rs 12000 as a bribe to dismiss a case. Apparently, a case was filed with the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) against Police Constable Nayaz Ahmed G, attached to CS Pura police station in Gubbi town of Tumakuru district. On November 03, he had accepted a bribe from Thimmegowda alias Chandranna for releasing his car.

Along with him, the ACB also nabbed two other accused- Sub-Inspector Somashekar, Head constable Keshav Murthy. Special Court rejected Nayaz’s Bail plea, therefore, he moved to the High Court. Although, two other accused were granted Bail.

As per the reports, the Court observed that Bail was granted to Sub-Inspector Somashekar on the grounds that conversation between him and Nayaz was not sufficient. Although, the conversation did reveal that the constable had received a bribe from the complainant.

The Court while dismissing the Bail plea of the accused Police constable observed that even though he might have received the bribe on behalf of Sub-Inspector, he was still the one caught red-handed from the complainant.

Justice K Natarajan further added, “There was a demand and acceptance of money by the petitioner, who came on a motorbike and received the amount and had a conversation with the complainant”
