Ex-MLA Kuna Ravikumar Arrested for Threatening Police, later released on Bail

On Saturday, the Andhra Pradesh Police arrested Kuna Ravikumar, former MLA and Senior TDP leader for fifth time.

The Police arrested the TPD leader from his brother’s house Shantinagar colony in Srikakulam district in midnight.

The Police Arrested the former MLA after a case was registered against him, in which it was mentioned that he made indecent remarks against the Police, abused them, and threatened the on-duty personnel.

It was observed that Ravikumar insulted the Policemen on Saturday morning, when Srikakulam Two Town Circle Inspector Ch Prasad along with his staffs visited Ravikumar’s house.

It is said that the Policemen visited him in order to stop him from protesting against the humiliation met by the leader of opposition Chandrababu Naidu in the Assembly.

However, it turned into a heated argument between the TDP leader and the Policemen and aggrieved by this, CI Two Town police registered a case against Ravikumar under Sections 353, 506 r/w 34 of the IPC.

After this, the Police arrested Ravikumar from the house of his brother and took him to Etcherla Police Station on Saturday midnight.

However, the District Court granted him Conditional Bail as mild tension prevailed in the arrest after the arrest of Ravikumar.

“The Police are interfering in my freedom of speech and expression.  They are following orders of the ruling party leaders,” stated Ravikumar after he was released by Sunday evening.

It should be noted here that after the Bail of Ravikumar was approved and he got released, TDP State President Kinjarapu Atchannaidu and other party leaders greeted him.
