On Monday, the Delhi High Court distributed certain guidelines of suggestions prepared by the High Court to enhance the security measures in all the Court premises of Delhi.
The guidelines of the High Court came after observing the seriousness of the gun firing incident at Rohini District Court that took place on September 24.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh made these suggestions which also included suggestions for Delhi Government to make budgetary allocation for purchasing security equipment for the Courts.
The Bench read certain guidelines in an open Court which are as follows-
- The Court suggested the Commissioner of Delhi Police to constitute a Team to undertake security audits of all Courts.
- The Court also suggested the team decide the number of Police Personnel to be deployed as well as number of cameras to be installed in each Court.
- The Court also suggested these Police Personnel to be responsible for checking and frisking, and adding to this the Court also stated that these mechanisms should be quick and efficient.
- Similarly, the Court also stated that these Personnel should be allotted at both main gate as well as outside.
- The Court also denied any entry of baggage without proper scanning and also stated that there should be monitoring of the Court building through CCTV cameras.
- The Court also suggested Delhi Bar Council to issue digital ID cards including QR codes for Advocates.
- At the end, the Court suggested Delhi Police to be responsible for security audits at all Courts.
“This is not an Order. No directions,” stated the Court clarifying that these are suggestions.
“This is a grave matter and requires immediate attention,” stated the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court.
At the end, the Court stated that the Copy of these suggestions will be circulated among all the stakeholders and Adjourned the matter to November 24 for further Consideration.
