Local court in Pratapgarh ordered murder case to be lodged against 12 policemen for beating to death an elderly man in a raid in the place last year.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Kamal Singh passed the order on the Wednesday.
The case had been lodged by the son of the elderly man, one Ramzan Khan of Lalganj Kotwali, when he moved the court alleging the officers beat his father on September 19th last year which eventually led to his death.
The police officers had allegedly beat the man to death during a raid that cost him his life.
The son also alleged the last rites being performed under pressure by the police, naming the then SHO, 2 sub inspector, and 9 constables involved in the murder of his father.
