Capitol Chaos: US Court instructs Klete Keller to stay away from Washington DC

Klete Keller, five-time Olympic swimming medalist was earlier arrested for participating in a deadly riot in the U.S. Capitol

However, he was released from federal custody and was instructed to stay away from Washington, D.C. until next week’s inauguration.

Klete Keller appeared during a brief hearing that took place in Denver federal court after his arrest.

Magistrate Judge Michael E. Hegarty directed Klete Keller to not travel to Washington any day before 21st January.

He would be further allowed to travel to Washington for court appearances and to meet with his lawyer.

He was also directed to ask for permission for future visits to see his children in North Carolina.

Klete Keller did not pay money and promised to appear before the court during future hearing and adhere to the standard conditions.

Klete Keller was charged on 13th January after a video went viral which appeared to show him as one of those who stormed the Capitol.

Klete Keller was 38-years-old and participated and competed in the 2000, 2004 and 2008 summer Olympics. He held 2 gold and 1 silver in the 800m freestyle relay and 2 bronze in the 400 freestyle relay.
