Judges of the Supreme Court to get COVID-19 vaccine shots from today.
The vaccination drive includes both current judges and their families and retired judges, with a facility provided for in the Supreme Court itself.
The judges and their families can however still choose to get the vaccination in any hospital listed by the government.
The cost of vaccination is free in government hospitals and costs 250 INR for a shot in private hospitals.
The Health Ministry also stated that judges will be using the Co-win system to decipher what vaccine they will be getting.
The two vaccines approved by India and in the running in hospitals and centers are Covaxin, produced by Bharat Biotech, and Covishield, created by Oxford-AstraZeneca and manufactured for India by the Serum Institute of India (SII).
The way persons can apply for the Co-Win system is by registering for a vaccination session on cowin.gov.in, select a vaccination center, book their slot and reschedule the vaccination date.
Both vaccines require two phases of doses to be effective. SII’s vaccine shows a 62% efficacy in phase-3 clinical trials while Bharat Biotech has not published any data from their phase-3 trials.
