Parshottam Rupala is a Member of Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Panchayati Raj, Agriculture and Farmer Welfare representing the state of India of Gujarat and leader of the Baratiya Janata Party. He had been a member of the Gujarat Legal Council from Amreli and had previously served as a minister in the Gujarat Government.
BACKGROUND: Rupala was born Hariben Khodabhai and Khodabhai Madhabhai, on 1 October 1954. Rupala received a B.Sc. and B.Ed. He studied at Saurashtra University and Gujarat University in 1976-1977. Prior to entering politics, he served as Headmaster at Mapapur Medium School from 1977 to 1983. He was the chief executive officer of the Amreli municipality from November 1983 to March 1987.
UPBRINGING: Prior to active politics, the tall and aggressive Rupala was the principal of a public school in the Saurashtra district of the Amreli district from 1977 to 1983.
WALK OF LIFE: Rupala was elected Member of the Legislature from April for the first time in 1991 and won a series of elections thereafter until 2002. Because of his background, he was made cabinet minister for Narmada, Irrigation and Water Resources and was later elected to Rajya Sabha in 2016 and was inducted into the Union of Trade Unions.
MAJOR INITIATIVES TAKEN: In addition to the uncertainty at the time of closing one job that gave continuous hope and certainty was only the work of Agriculture and food security. Throughout India, many farmers and agricultural workers sweat and toil for all the hardships.
Their tireless efforts and timely interventions by the Central Government and Governments, have ensured that there is little or no disruption to the harvesting and continued harvesting of the Karif & Rabi crops and the sowing of summer crops.

He served 3 consecutive terms as a member of the Amreli Constituency of Gujarat Legislative Assembly which ended in 2002.
He was the Cabinet Minister for Narmada Irrigation and Water Supply from 19 March 1995 to 20 October 1995 and from 4 November 1995 to 18 September 1996; and agriculture from 9 October 2001 to 21 December 2002.
He was the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of the Gujarat Legal Council from March 1997 to December 1997. He was the Chairman of the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (G.I.D.C.) from June 1998 to October 2001.
He was elected as a member of Rajya Sabha (2008-2009) where he served on the Food, Consumer and Public Distribution Committee (August 2009 – August 2010), Human Resources, Public Complaints, Law and Justice Committee. Member (July 2010), Export Committee Membership Committee and Chemical and Fertilizer Committee Member Committee, Agriculture Committee.
He was re-elected as Rajya Sabha in June 2016 in a poll required for the death of a Member of Parliament sitting in Praveen Rashtrapal. His term expires on 2 April 2018.
CONTROVERY/CASES: To masturbate the opposition parties for their protest against new farm debts, the Minister of Coalition for Agriculture, Parshottam Rupala has asked them to prove what is “black” when they repeatedly talk about “black law”.
Speaking on the election campaign for the 32 candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in eight Bodakdev wards and six wards in the Maninagar area of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Rupala they said the opposition was only protesting because of protests and chaos.
