REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENT- Anurag Singh Thakur has worked with several NGOs to help the needy. He has also helped in development of sports, promotion of social and cultural values, worked for children’s welfare and youth development, upliftment and welfare of SC/ST and other backward classes; promotion of agriculture and horticulture and protecting the environment

Captain Anurag Singh Thakur is a member of the lower house of the parliament and serves as a minister of state of finance and corporate affairs. He is politically affiliated to Bharatiya Janata Party


Mr. Thakur was honored with the Sansad Ratna Award in 2019 for his outstanding performance in the 16th Lok Sabha

Thakur is also one of the youngest parliamentarian in India today and was also awarded with the Best Young Parliamentarian Award in 2011.

BACKGROUND – In May 2008, Thakur succeeded his father when he was elected as a Member of Parliament of India’s 14th Lok Sabha. He was later appointed as the President of the All India Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha. He is also a cricket player nd is known to have played the Ranjhi Trophy against Jammu & Kashmir in 2000; he was also the President of the HPCA. He has played one match in first class cricket to fulfill the BCCI criteria for becoming a selector at the state level.

UPBRINGING & EDUCATION – Captain Thakur was born in 1974 at Harimpur. He is the eldest son in his family. He studied and graduated at Doaba College, Punjab with a Bachelor’s in Arts

WALK OF LIFE- Captain Anurag Singh Thakur is a member of the lower house of the Parliament i.e Lok Sabha from Harimpur in Himachal Pradesh, and also serves as a Minister of State of Finance and Corporate Affairs

MAJOR INITIATIVES TAKEN- Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur has led various socio-economic and political initiatives such as Rashtriya Ekta Yatra; Kolkata to Kashmir, Shaheed Shradhanjali Yatra- a journey from Guwahati to Tawang to pay homage to 1962 war bravehearts, Sansad Ghirav a national agitation against corruption, national youth convention, digital literacy campaign etc.

CONTROVERSIES/CASES – In December 2019, Anurag Singh Thakur was accused of being one of the political leader who incited communal riots in Delhi using hate speech ‘traitor of the country’ to which his audience ‘shoot the bastards’ replied, which were then repeated by him in January 2020 at a BJP rally
