Additional Sessions Judge P.R. Sitre of a Mumbai Court today granted bail to Fakt Marathi channel owner Shirish Pattanshetty on a surety of Rs. 50,000.
The Fakt Marathi channel had been accused of manipulating TRP ratings recently alongwith two other channels.
The Counsel of Shetty argued that the accused had not committed any TRP rigging, nor had the channel’s revenues gone up during the said period.
Shetty had been arrested soon after the allegations had been levelled against him and several others.
His Counsel contended that nothing had been found out during his custodial investigation, which was allegedly illegal and unwarranted in the matter.
The TRP scam came to light when allegations were raised on complaint of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) to the Mumbai Police.
As many as 11 people have been arrested in the matter so far.
