Nepal Supreme Court appoints Sher Bahadur Deuba as PM, restores dissolved Lower House

The Supreme Court of Nepal restored the House of Representatives which was dissolved for the second time in the past five months.

The Court directed President Bidya Devi Bhandari to make Bahadur Deuba the Prime minister and to put back the dissolved House of Representatives 

There were many writ petitions which were filed against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s move and wanting dissolution of the House of Representatives.

Currently, KP Sharma Oli is leading a minority government, he alleges that other party members run a “parallel government”. 

A constitutional bench headed by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.

The Court held that President Bhandari’s decision to dissolve the house on the recommendation of the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is an unconstitutional act.

The Court further issued a Mandamus to appoint Deuba as the Prime Minister of Nepal.
