5G Rollout: Delhi HC defers hearing on Juhi Chawla plea till July 29

The High Court of Delhi on Monday deferred the hearing of Bollywood Actress Juhi Chawla’s plea. The plea was connected with the dismissal of her lawsuit filed against the 5G wireless network technology.

Justice Sanjeev Narula who was hitherto presiding over the matter recused from hearing Ms Chawla’s plea and directed that the matter be listed before another bench for hearing on July 29th.

“Subject to the order of the Chief Justice, list before another bench on July 29,” the judge said.

The actress in her application had sought that her lawsuit against the 5G technology be declared “rejected” instead of being dismissed.

In seeking so, Ms Chawla’s counsel argued that the plaint,

“Since it never went up to the level of the suit, it could only be rejected or returned according to the Civil Procedure Code, and not dismissed.”

The matter was placed before Justice Narula the previous week.

In the Court’s opinion, the suit was no more than a publicity stunt as Ms Chawla had circulated the video conferencing link on her social media handles.

This led to repeated disruptions by unknown miscreants, the court had said. In connection therewith, Court also directed that contempt notice be issued against the wrongdoers who had disrupted the hearing by accessing it through the link which was made public.
