The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered the Punjab government to submit its work report. This decision was taken after a plea raised doubts, alleging improper probe by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the Maur Mandi blast.

A blast took place at Maur Mandi, Punjab, in 2017, ahead of the Legislative Assembly elections. The High Court had then ordered a probe by SIT.
Gurjit Singh Patra had filed a petition stating that the SIT was not efficiently doing its probe as per the court directions.

The accused in the case – Gurtej Singh, Avtar Singh, and Amrik Singh, have not been arrested yet.

As per the petitioner, the accused are linked with Dera Sacha Sauda. Gurmeet Ram Rahim, chief of Dera, is imprisoned at Sunaira Jail, Rohtak, in a sexual exploitation case.

The petitioner also questioned the formation of SIT, as the High Court had last year ordered for a fresh SIT.

The petitioner queried why was Ram Rahim not being suspected by the SIT.
