Man Receives 20 Year Jail Term for Raping 6 Year Old in Chhattisgarh, Verdict Delivered Within 27 Days of Crime

A man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the rape of a 6-year-old girl in Dhamtari district, Chhattisgarh.

The verdict was handed down by the fast track court within just 27 days of the crime, as confirmed by a police official.

The convict, Kishore Sarathi (32), was found guilty by the fast track special court (FTSC) under section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The incident had been reported to the Kurud police station by the victim’s parents on July 29.

They alleged that Sarathi had raped their young daughter. Subsequently, a case was registered under sections 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as stated by the IG.

“The accused was apprehended from Pachpedi Naka in Raipur on the same day and was placed in judicial custody on July 30. The investigation was concluded in an expedited five days, and the chargesheet was presented in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, FTSC (POCSO) Pankaj Kumar Jain,” he further added.

On the designated day, Sarathi was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment.
