On Tuesday, Jasneet Kaur, who is known as Rajbir Kaur and has a significant following on Instagram, was taken into custody for allegedly using extortion and blackmail tactics to obtain money from her social media followers.
The arrest occurred after a complaint was made by a businessman who claimed to have been a victim of Jasneet’s scheme. The incident resulted in a case being filed against Jasneet Kaur at the Model Town police station in Ludhiana on April 1. In addition, the Ludhiana Police have confiscated a BMW and a mobile phone as part of their investigation.
Jasneet Kaur, who comes from Mohali, is an Instagram influencer with nearly 200,000 followers, and she refers to herself as an “actor” and “model” in her Instagram bio. She has accounts on various social media platforms such as Telegram and Snapchat. In September of 2022, Jasneet Kaur allegedly demanded Rs 2 crore from Gurbir through extortion by threatening to release their conversations to the public.
Jasroop Kaur Batth, who is the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Ludhiana (West), has stated that the Ludhiana Police has registered a case against Jasneet Kaur’s associate, Lucky Sandhu, who is a leader in the Youth Congress.
According to the police, Lucky Sandhu was allegedly responsible for making threatening phone calls to potential targets on behalf of Jasneet Kaur. The accused have been charged under sections 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
