Delhi Court issued a notice to the Delhi Police on the application for anticipatory bail filed by Shantanu Muluk. Muluk was charged in the farmer’s protest toolkit case along with Disha Ravi.
The Court, with Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana, had granted bail to Ravi and postponed Muluk’s bail application for argument on Friday.
The judge stated that citizens were conscious keepers of the Government and cannot be put to jail for opposing governmental policies.
Muluk is currently on transit bail that he received from the Bombay High Court on February 16th for ten days and has been granted protection from arrest till the end of that period. During the brief hearing via video conference on Wednesday, the Court took cognizance of the fact that Muluk had been granted protection from arrest till 26th February.
The court adjourned the matter after noticing the public prosecutor not being present for the case, concluding the matter to be better heard in their physical presence.
Muluk and Ravi were arrested under sedition and other such charges along with co-accused Nikita Jacobs, with Ravi being arrested by a Cyber Cell from Delhi on the 13th of February from Bangalore.
The Cyber Cell of the Delhi police arrested Ravi and brought her from Bengaluru to Delhi.
She was granted bail on Tuesday after 9-day custody while Muluk and Jacob are on transit bail.
If the three get convicted for sedition, there is a high chance of them getting a maximum jail term of life.
