The Armed Forces Tribunal has directed the government to increase the pay of Major General-rank officers who were getting comparatively less pay than juniors.

The military court has also asked to increase the service pay of an Air Vice-Marshal of the Air Force.

Ankur Chhibber, counsel to Air Vice Marshal P Shubhas Babu, addressed the irregularities occurring after the execution of the 6th Pay Commission.

Rajendra Menon, Chairperson of AFT, directed that the respondents be granted a pension and other benefits from July 1, 2020.

Chhibber told that the AFT’s verdict would resolve the long-time pending grievance of two-star officers.

He mentioned that after the 6th Pay Commission, the military service pay was only payable till the rank of brigadier, which resulted in the reduction of the salary of two-star officers in comparison to that of their juniors.
