As an urgent situation and One-Time Measure, a Public Interest Litigation has been filed before the Supreme Court of India seeking instructions to facilitate Medical Students coming back from Ukraine and permit them to continue their Education in Indian Medical Colleges with appropriate Indian or Foreign Degrees.

According to the Petitioner, such a one-time exception for War-affected Indian students studying abroad is consistent with India’s Constitutional Scheme of Fundamental Rights availability, including the Right to Life, Justice, Equity, and Fair Play, and is consistent with India’s ideals as a true Welfare State.

As an alternative, the Petition has requested that the Ukrainian Government coordinate with it and declare some Central or State Government or Private Colleges as overseas campuses of Ukrainian institutes to continue studies as a one-time emergency measure until normalcy returns to Ukraine.

The Petitioners contend that the Union of India and the states are obligated to make an exception in the system of Medical Education as a one-time measure in light of Ukraine’s unprecedented State of War.

According to the Petitioners, the current problem can be solved by either starting off-shore universities in India or allowing students to master the balance of their Medical Education according to the Indian Medical Education Syllabus.
