Toolkit Case: Congress tells Delhi Police it won’t pursue Delhi Complaint

Congress leaders have apparently told the Delhi Police that they would no longer pursue their complaint with them in the toolkit case stating that the case has already been filed and is under investigation in Chhattisgarh.

On May 18, The Congress Party leaders, Rohan Gupta, Party Social Media head and Rajeev Gowda, Research Department Head had filed a police complaint against BJP president J.P Nadda and others, even naming Union Minister, Smriti Irani, Sambit Patra and B. L Santosh,BJP’s organizing Secretary at the Tughlak Road Police Station in Delhi.

The complaint stated that the named leaders had connived and “forged, fabricated and manufactured the said documents on the letterhead of AICC Research Department and printed such material on the same which has to potential of creating communal disharmony, civil unrest in the country and the said document is being utilized by the BJP to spread fake news which has to potential to be escalated into violence and fueling hate at the hands of BJP leaders directly”.

The Delhi Police informed that as of yet no FIR has been registered in the matter and had issued on May 22 a notice to All India Congress Committee (AICC) functionaries.

On May 22, the Congress duo replied that a case has already been filed in Chhattisgarh and the investigation is underway. The duo had also asked the Delhi Police to share their findings in the case to the Chhattisgarh police

While there is a Congress government in Chhattisgarh, the Delhi police reports to the Centre.
