The standoff between Trinamool Congress and Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar quickly escalated on Sunday, with the allegation of MP Kalyan Banerjee that the arrest of the two ministers and MLA from the party, in the Narada Case, was done at the behest of Raj Bhavan.

Party supporters were asked to lodge complaints against the governor, by him. Previously, the governor was also referred to as the “bloodsucker” by him.

Dhankar was “stunned” and responded to the MP’s comments via Twitter.

Dhankar asked MP Kalyan Banerjee to leave it for the “cultured people of West Bengal and media” to decide.

Kalyan Banerjee later said that, since no criminal proceedings can be initiated while he is in the post of the Governor, it would be wise to lodge the complaints in people’s respective police stations, which could be later turned into FIR when he remits the post.

“The former governor can then be sent to Presidency Jail for disturbing the secular fabric of Bengal”, he added.
