Telangana High Court takes cognizance of the murder of the young lawyer couple who were brutally stabbed to death. The court issued a notice to the state and directed the government to properly conduct investigation.

The couple- Gattu Vaman Rao and his wife PV Nagamani were killed when they were travelling in a car. Two men attacked them using knives and other weapons near a village in Ramagiri Mandal.

The court posted the matter to March 1st, condemning the killing calling it “unfortunate.” Lawyers across the state have come out in protest and are demanding the arrests of the culprit.

Before his death, the man, Gattu Rao, told one of the witnesses on the scene that the man behind his death was one Kunta Srinu, who happens to be a local leader of the ruling party Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

Rao’s family members also alleged the same.

The couple had moved the High Court in September last year complaining of the police harassing them over a PIL over a custodial death of a man in Manthani police station.
