Senior Advocate and Ex-MP Kapil Sibal Parts Ways from Congress

On Wednesday Senior Advocate and former Member of Parliament (MP) Kapil Sibal quit the Congress Party. He has been in Congress since around 30 years. His tenure as Member of Rajya Sabha is going to end on July 4, 2022.

He had filed the nomination of Rajya Sabha as independent candidate but backed by Samajwadi Party. At time of filing Nomination Chief of Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav was and MP Ram Gopal Yadav was also present with Sibal.

On June 10, 2022 polls are going to be held on ten seats of Rajya Sabha.

While addressing media, Kapil Sibal stated that he had filed the nomination as independent candidate and he had quit congress on May 16.

At present Sibal is representing Azam Khan the Senior Leader of Samajwadi Party in Supreme Court in his Bail hearings.

The Sibal was asked the reason of such a decision on which he said, “I’ll not say anything about Congress. I’ve resigned, so it’s not appropriate for me to say anything about Congress. It’s not easy to leave a relationship of 30-31 years.”

Akhilesh Yadav told media after the nomination, “Kapil Sibal is a Senior Lawyer. He has presented his opinions well in the Parliament. We hope he’ll present the opinions of both SP as well as himself.”
