Dushyant Dave, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association announced his resignation from the post stating that he had “forfeited” his right to continue as their leader.

Dushyant Dave has previously raised questions on the Supreme Court’s integrity due to the extending preferential treatment given to Arnab Goswami.

In his resignation letter he stated, “We sincerely decided to hold virtual election to elect a new body. Now I find it may not be possible to hold them as per the schedule declared by the Election Committee due to reservations held by some of you.”

He further added that he understood their position but felt it morally wrong to continue as the president in these circumstances.

He expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court Bar Association Members (SCBA) stating that they had made the institution proud.

Dushyant Dave had always been vocal regarding the questionable functioning of the Apex Court in the recent months.

In November 2020 he had raised questions on the Supreme Court’s integrity due to the extending preferential treatment given to Arnab Goswami, Republic TV founder.

Dushyant Dave in a hard-hitting letter written to the Supreme Court Registry asked whether the special treatment given was at the behest of the Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde.

This letter came only hours after the Apex Court listed Goswami’s plea challenging the Bombay High Court’s order rejecting his interim bail in the abetment to suicide case.

The Apex Court has listed the matter to be heard by the bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and Indira Banerjee at a short notice while the controversial anchor’s plea is still pending before a lower court in Mumbai.
