SC directs Centre to note Public suggestions for Permanent Solution to Pollution

The Supreme Court on Thursday while expressing content over the measures taken by the Centre and Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and adjoining areas to restrain Air Pollution.

Further the Court directed Centre to note suggestions from the public for a permanent solution to Pollution.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta stated “We have a committee for long-term solution with National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) experts on board to find a solution so that knee-jerk reaction for every year is not needed.”

A Bench comprising of Chief Justice of India NV Ramana and Justices DY Chandrachud and Surya Kant adjourned the matter for further Hearing in the first week of February.

Further Mehta highlighted that the ban has been lifted from Medicines, Drugs and Life-saving Equipment Industries and they can operate full time.

Furthermore, Mehta noted that schools would continue to function in virtual mode for the time being and that all hospital constructions are permitted and for the rest of the construction activity, interiors can continue but not actual construction.

Mehta also stated that Paper and Pulp Processing Industries, Paddy, Rice Industries and Textile and Garment Industries five day a week.
