The High Court of Punjab and Haryana granted anticipatory bail to the managing director and chairman of Health Biotech Limited, Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, Paramjit Arora and regular bail to Susheel Kumar, KP Francis, Philip Jacob and Gaurav Chawla in case of illegal sale of Remdesivir.
Remdesivir is a drug that is given to COVID-19 patients in a time of emergency, in the due course of the second wave there was a massive demand for this drug which led to its illegal sale and black marketing many people were involved in this type of case.
The Chandigarh police operation team raided a luxury hotel where five men from other states were making a deal for the illegal distribution of Remdesivir.
The Chandigarh police arrested six such people on April 18th including the director of the pharmaceutical firm, for the alleged illegal sale of Remdesivir.
Over 3,000 doses of this drug were taken hold of from the firm by the police officers.
