A Petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court requesting the postponement of the release of the movie ‘The Conversion,’ as well as the removal of its trailer from YouTube, until it has been reviewed and censored by the Appropriate Authorities.

The Plea filed by the All India Practising Lawyers Council alleges that the Trailer of the Movie displays biased and communal content and that the film has the potential to cause Communal Polarisation amidst the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections.

The Petition states, “The perusal of the contents of the trailer of the movie ‘The Conversion’ itself suggests clearly that it has the potential to cause identity-based violence, especially in a country like India, which has a history of Communal Hatred and Violence.”

The Plea further alleges, “The content of the trailer of the movie is prejudiced against one religion and against the principle under which Article 19(2) of the Constitution of India is based.”

The trailer of the film implies that the content of the film is fabricated, communally biased, far from the truth, and portrays one sector of Society or a certain Community as cruel, while also spreading the idea of Love Jihad.
