Former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan and Maldivian nationals Mariyam Rasheeda and Fauzia Hassan have moved to the District Sessions Court to take proceedings against the Anticipatory Bail application of former Kerala DGP Siby Mathews.

Siby Mathews is one of the 18 people considered to be accused of the conspiracy behind the 1994 ISRO Spy Case.

The Supreme Court based on its three-member committee in April directed the CBI’s unit in Delhi to register this case. The unit registered this case last month.

Mathews responding to Narayanan’s impleading petition challenges the assertion made that the scandal led to the loss of the scientist’s career and implied that Narayanan applied for VRS (Voluntary Retirement Scheme) 10 days before the arrest of Rasheeda who was also portrayed to be a spy in this case.

Narayanan contended to the Court that he should be heard as the “de facto complainant.”

He further said that Mathews is pointing out a case where he is believed to be an accused and which was filed as per the order received from the Supreme Court.
