Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil accused BJP of pressurising Mumbai police and interfering with their job and warned that such action won’t be tolerated.

He stated that the director of Bruck Pharma, Rajesh Dokania was called in for questioning after the city police received information that around 50,000-60,000 vials of remdesivir was arriving in the city.

However, senior members of BJP, Devendra Fadnavis, Pravin Darekar, Parag Alavani and Prasad Lad visited BKC police station questioning police action of summoning Dokania.

Patil stated, “Police can call anybody for questioning”.

He further added, “I am discussing with all our colleagues regarding actions in this case and the right decision will be taken. I have asked the senior police officers to inquire and suggest what action can be taken against Fadnavis and other leaders”.

The company director showed permission letter from Food and Drugs Association (FDA) for selling the stock to the Maharashtra government.

Earlier, Dokania had expressed inability to honour the commitment.

He added, “A probe is on whether the stock was to be sold to private parties or to the government. The stock is at present with the company. it was not going to the government. Investigation is being carried out to find out to whom it was being given”.

Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole wrote a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and asked, “When remdesivir cannot be sold to private parties, how did Fadnavis get permission? Has the central government given its nod to BJP and Fadnavis to hoard remdesivir?”
